As a longtime walker of Los Angeles (and other places) I am always interested in reading about fellow travelers. They say that nobody walks in LA, but of course it isn't true. Just look at the LA Marathon, which I have walked the past 2 years. As for the people who have big houses somewhat isolated from the noise and confusion of the city, I can tell you from personal experience that most of them are "real" people. At least in Palos Verdes, which I hope you visit. However, I went to UCLA for a year and I wouldn't want to live in West LA or Beverly Hills.
