Click Pic to Watch Jack in Pasadena
Jack is disabled. He makes ends meet by spending his days on the streets of Pasadena asking people to put spare change in his cup. He likes to think he gives something back to the streets that give to him. Over time, he has developed a personal philosophy about what he does and how to deal with the challenges of everyday life.
I loved this guy's attitude. He was a lot more positive than most of the people you've met so far.

I've walked all over Los Angeles, without the spectacle of holding a video camera, and I can testify to the transformative power it has had on my understanding of this place.
Take a walk from the SFV over the mountain into Westwood, or down by the river in Cypress Park. You won't see anyone, but that is a big part of it.
Los Angeles is not a city with a real out-in-the-open street culture. Most of what it seems you are trying to capture typically happens only in private spaces, and your access to depends heavily upon who you know.

I want to apologize for my post above. I just read through your blog, and you have done a TON of walking through this city, and it seems to me now that you aren't as naive as I initially thought you were.
I think I assumed too much about what you were blogging (or vlogging?) about. My apologies. Keep up the hard work.
Also, have you ever been to the walkway inbetween the 110 to Chinatown?
How about the "art park" in Lincoln Heights?
If you're interested, email me.

Many of us in Los Angeles become numb to the disabled we see on our streets, this guy has spirit.

I met Jack when I walked with my soumate and the only man i've ever loved. Jack said to him, that we looked happy and to never let go of me...what a special moment.
